on the way to the airport

on the way to the airport, originally uploaded by cathurynn.

These are the Tetons! Aren't they awesome? This is the site from Jackson Hole, the valley to the east side of the Tetons. The mountains rise up pretty dramatically from this side, without any foothills to speak of. We took this on our first drive into the valley, on our way to pick up my brother at the Jackson Hole airport. This is only part of the Teton range, although the whole range isn't very long, compared to other more well known mountain ranges. The tallest peak in the photo is Grand Teton, the tallest in the range and the second tallest in Wyoming (by about 30 feet, if I remember correctly). We could see these mountains from our cabin, which will show up in a future post.
