late afternoon sun
I'm going to end up with a million photos of the Arch. It's inevitable. Unless I get tired of carrying my camera to work. Which is always possible.

down by my feet
Only a couple more days and I'm off on vacation with the family. I'm definitely looking forward to a change of scenery. I haven't been anywhere of any great distance in a while! Well, other than Lousiana. I forgot about that. I was down there in the spring and had quite a nice time. I'm glad that we're headed north at this time and year and not south. Louisiana was nice in March, but not so nice now. Don't worry, when I get back, there will be plenty of pictures to be blogged.

curled
Yet another of my odd photos that is one of my favorites. I should really be skipping this one and jumping to something a tad more recent, but I can't. To excuse me a little, most of my recent photos are of people and I don't usually post people around here. I don't always make the people photos public on Flickr anyway because I'm not quite comfortable with having my own life all over the internet, much less putting someone else's face and life out there. Paranoid? Perhaps, but I don't think I'm overly paranoid, or that it isn't at least a little warranted.

pollen
So this week we have a lot of rain and thunderstorms in the forecast, except for the two days it will be in the mid 90s. Luckily one of those two rain-free days is a day I will be headed to the ballgame, but I don't know that I'm looking forward to the high temperatures. I really can't complain overall since the highs so far this year have only been in the 80s and that's pretty mild. Anyway, the weather isn't that thrilling to be discussing, but I should really get off the computer and get some things done today.

thin
My mom's peonies bloomed a few weeks ago. They were gorgeously huge flowers. And thanks to my aunt, my mom now knows the secret technique used to de-ant peonies. Apparently ants really really like the flowers and you can't bring them inside without bringing in all of the ants hiding in the blooms. The secret is to cut the flowers and put them upside down in a bucket of water so that the blooms are totally submerged. The ants will crawl out of the flowers and up the stems to escape from the water. After you think the ants are all out (there will be a million), you take the flowers out, let them drip and dry a bit, and then you're ready to go!

crepuscular rays
Yes, I do believe I spelled that correctly. Crepuscular rays are rays of light from the sun (or probably other light sources too) that visibly appear to have form. That's not the best definition, but I'm too lazy to look it up. At any rate, they look like in this. You get the idea.

window grass
I know I post a lot of flower photos. You may even like flower photos, but not THAT much. Anyway, this is me trying to avoid a flower photo for this post. We can't escape plant photos because, really, that's all I have at the moment. I do quite like this planter full of grass. Thomas had some random leftover grass seed and he built a shallow wooden planter and planted the grass. It's wonderfully soft when I run my hands over it and it's starting to fill out a bit more than it was when I took the photo. Yay grass in the window!

soft
I didn't intend for this to be blurry. It was dusk and the light was low. And, because I was trying to take macro photos, there was probably a breeze blowing. But the colors are awesome and I like the blur. Makes it a little like a painting or something.

soaking up the sun
We had two graduations in the family this spring, and the graduation party to celebrate. Although it was a bit windy, especially at the beginning, it was quite a nice party. It's always nice to get to hang out with family and friends, eat a lot of food, play washers, and generally have a good time. Plus, there were tons of leftovers to eat for the next few days! :)
