the world around you
i think about it sometimes when i'm on the hunt for something to photograph. often i'm looking for something small. something that wouldn't normally get your attention. i like photos like that. those that make you see something in a different way.
my mom and i were discussing art yesterday. mostly because my brother was telling us how one of his friends thinks art is a waste of time. that artists should "get a real job". my mother and i love beautiful things, including more traditionally labeled "art", so this is a strange idea to us. he doesn't think anything should be presented to look pleasing? he wouldn't put decoration in his home? he wouldn't consider a beautiful handmade chair to be art?
today someone sent me the link to an article. i'm linking it for you. i know it's long, but i hope you read the whole thing. and then think more often about stopping to appreciate moments of beauty.
